POV: you're protecting your peace
This month we are de-stressing, FOMO confessing and toasting to Thai tunes.
Welcome to the April edition of POV, where Aureliano Gerling (Talent Manager) kicks off and reflects on a balancing act of the professional and personal.
Working in a creative industry like ours is an all-encompassing, never-ending and completely fulfilling thing. Yet, managing creativity is a double edged sword: inspiration is literally everywhere. As Talent Manager, I notice how during my downtime and doomscrolling I can be triggered to take note of everything others are doing. Creative and inspirational impulses that could be meaningful starting points for the strategy of our agency and talents are ubiquitous.
And that's how I’ve come to realize the essentiality of keeping a close eye on work-life balance, to consciously relax outside of the (sometimes long) office hours. Often, when it gets to that point of feeling utterly drained, it’s already too late to ease the pressure.
With the commencement of a new season like Spring, it has dawned on me that we ought to ground to grow, much like the blooming flowers that characterize this time of year. We can only thrive in the sunshine if we’ve taken the time to unwind and recharge. Go outside, spend time with family and friends without your phone, go to the gym, book sound baths and guided meditation or yoga sessions. Say yes to parties! Treat downtime with the same purpose and intentionality as you would your ambitions. Rest is not a pause from thriving, it's part of it.
So let’s conquer the chaos and cut to the chase, here is a list of tips from our team to yours…
What are we doing?
Getting our political groove on at Europanacht by De Kiesmannen on the 9th of May.

Searching for a new set of eyes and ears, because our team is ready to welcome a new Project Manager to the agency. Check out the vacancy here.
Where are we going?
Easter brunches that come in two flavours this year: low-key with family, or liquid at DGTL.
Kicking of May at De Ochtenddienst in Carré, a monthly Sunday morning surprise concert that has been gifted to the city by the venue for its 750th anniversary.
What are we shopping?
We’re ready to go from stressed to blessed with the Chimi Code Honey.

Preparing for every adventure (and coffee date) with the Espresso Yourself Marrea bag.
What are we listening to?
Thai tunes because we’re not ready to let go of White Lotus mania just yet.
What are we reading?
Costica Bradantan’s case for doing nothing, which illustrates another extreme take on work-life balance: is being a loser perhaps the ultimate form of self-care?

Both NRC and The New York Times because you now get a two-for-one deal with a subscription to the Dutch newspaper.
What are we working on?
Setting up the showroom for our Press Day this Thursday, which is promising to be a buttery smooth start to the season.
The opening of hospitality venues in Rotterdam's newest art museum: Fenix. A place where the search and discovery of identity is everything, everywhere, and for everyone.
What are we eating?
Cafe de Linden’s sourdough tosti.

New NO-YUSU goodness at their soon-to-open location in Benelux Bar.
What are we drinking?
Cul Sec on the nights we feel like drinking natural wines, but cannot afford a hangover the day after.

Time has officially come to turn your hot teas into cold lemonades at the office - here’s our reminder to make staying hydrated during the day as easy as possible with funky flavour experimentations. Copain never misses with inspiration.
What are we noticing?
The FOMO-fanatics among us flourish with the start of seasons in which we prefer to spend time outside, while some are actually gearing up for the interactions with strangers we’d otherwise avoid. Freya India’s Substack read on Whatever happened to FOMO? offers a recognizable and refreshing vantage point.
