Welcome to the August edition of POV, where Lena Sommerdijk kicks us off and reflects on contemporary tastemaking.
Back in 2017, the year I started L’AGENCY, influencer marketing was still the underdog – traditional media had yet to embrace the rather unique group of so-called tastemakers, who were even called out to be on the edge of being not so tasteful by several international well-known media. With the agency I wanted to create a haven amidst a skeptical landscape by focusing on working together with individuals that are tasteful above anything, in the team and portfolio alike. A guide, a stamp of approval, a beacon of clarity: an influencer marketing agency that would alter the point-of-view of brands on the flavourful opportunities influencer marketing and its (then) novel professional curators can bring.
Today, this POV is unaltered, but we’re continuously learning and refining our way of doing business. The social media landscape that we’ve developed over the past 10 years (now riddled with algorithmic recommendations) does make it hard to find a signature, to encounter content that surprises yet feels personal. But I am a passionate advocate of the talents and team that L’AGENCY works with, and convinced that they are diverse cultural compasses of genuine insight. This newsletter is therefore a vessel of guidance, an extension of the L’AGENCY sense-making heritage, and in its truest form an ode to the ultimate digital field of taste that is influencer marketing.

Prepping the Nespresso hub for the Parisian 1/OFF opening show at AFW.
What are we eating?
